For those not familiar with Jon Kaase's work, you're in for a treat. Jon's Boss9 is probably a good place to start if you're interested. Anyway he won this competition with something you've probably never seen... split headers on a V8. That's 16 pipes, two per exhaust port. Can you say engine porn? Geek out on all the glorious details !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Sounds inefficient and heavy

thats a mod motor, not the boss9. but kaase is a genuine genius. i wanna hear this thing. anyone know where to find a video?

I guess you should read the article my Sicilian arachnoid friend. It's an engine builders competition, packaging /weight is probably not it's strong point but efficiency is the whole point.

Yep. I never said this was a Boss9. I said if you are interested in more of his work you should take a look at the Boss9.
As you mentioned, this is a 409 ci mod motor, 4 valve. This is the first year new rules allow 4 valves per cylinder. 400 ci is the minimum size to enter the competition.

A brilliant bit of engineering when your competition is all about dyno numbers, but it's heavy, bulky and not terribly practical for an on-verhicle application

I'll bet that, with the right setup, what it sounds like is a chorus of angels gargling rockets.

Sure... it's engine porn man, you're just supposed to appreciate it for what it is.

sonny leonard is another builder worth looking at.

It must be pure auditory ear sex fun happy time. I think those modular motors are great sounding to begin with.

I have been accused of being TOO practical ;)

Not as familiar with Sonny. A Kaase pump gas motor for a 60s Ford resto-mod is kinda my dream setup.

yea, i looked at getting a set of kaase heads for my truck, until i saw the price...i'll stick with junkyard bits until one of my million dollar ideas pays off...

I like it. It looks well done.
Got sound of it running?

I did read it. No need for a condescending reply, thanks

I didn't see any video. I was so hoping for it.

There's a lot of goofy stuff that goes on at Engine Master's that would never fit or work in a car. These are basically just built to go on a dyno.
